A PLUi-H is being developed until 2023

Cholet's inter-municipal Local Urban Plan has been in force since the end of 2016. In the second half of 2017, the municipality will prescribe an Intercommunal Local Urban Plan in lieu of a Local Housing Programme. The duration of its elaboration is planned to extend until 2023. Gilles Bourdouleix is mayor of Cholet and Alain Picard, mayor of Le May sur Evre, oversees the issues of land use planning for the Choletais agglomeration and the PLUi. The commune of Cholet is surrounded by agricultural areas and natural areas. The latter include land that requires protection due to the quality of the sites, natural environments or the interest of the landscapes, such as around the Noues pond, and the existence of risks or nuisances. Land opportunities will be found in urban areas such as the UA zone, which contains 40% of the plots in the commune, or in the UC zone, which is intended to accommodate residential and suburban buildings as well as the facilities that accompany housing, and which represents one plot in three.

Cholet: a historic town with some real estate projects

7 building permits were authorised in 2018 for collective and individual housing in this Maine-et-Loire commune. They are located in the town centre, Lorraine and Guignardière districts. Cholet is home to several protected historic monument sectors, around the Sacré-Coeur church and the Grenier à sel tower, built in the 16th century and which bears witness to the gabelle, the salt tax in force in this region of the kingdom; as well as remarkable heritage sites in the town centre, around the Godinière pond, on the banks of the Ribou lake and on the Puy-Saint-Bonnet ridge. In the protected urban sectors, any real estate project will therefore be subject to the opinion of the Architectes des Bâtiments de France.
