Brest: +1,300 new homes per year

Brest will produce 1,300 homes per year and does not forget social housing

Brest is undertaking a proactive policy of housing construction, particularly social housing:

  • 1,300 newhomes per year
  • for any housing project of more than 2,500 m² of floor area, a minimum of 25% affordable housing will be required

This is the case for this group of plots near the Grand Spernot Stadium around Rue Kerléguer:

Construction is favoured in certain areas of the city

Housing construction programmes are particularly numerous in the Capucins and Recouvrance districts. They are both located in a reduced VAT zone of 5. 5%, which encourages the production of housing.

The Brest cable car, which crosses the Penfeld, the river that divides the city into two banks, is also boosting the creation of housing.

Numerous building permits filed in the port of Brest

In order to limit the number of people leaving for the outskirts of Brest, large areas authorise or will authorise the construction of housing in the more or less long term. This is notably the case in certain Zones d'Aménagement Concerté (ZAC):

  • ZAC Fontaine Margot to the west of Brest. Work began in 2014. It will mainly be used for housing.
  • the ZAC du Port de Commerce (in purple), where several building permits have been submitted
