Toulon: an attractive city in the Var that interests property developers

Toulon's Local Urban Plan (PL U) was approved in 2012 and has undergone several modifications since then, the latest of which was in 2019.

Toulon is theeconomic capital of the Var department and is ideally situated between the sea and the mountains. Its commercial port provides ferry connections to Corsica. The city has a university and the Kedge Business School opened its new campus in the heart of the city in early 2020. There is no shortage of entertainment facilities, with an opera house, a national conservatory, several museums and concert halls and the Liberté theatre, which has been awarded the "national stage" label.

Buildings can be up to 18 metres high (i.e. R+5) in Toulon city centre.

The municipality of Toulon has a right of pre-emption over more than half of its territory. This right of pre-emption is reinforced in the city centre and the districts of Saint-Roch, Porte d'Italie, Champs de Mars and Brunet.

There are many reserved sites, most of which are located around major roads such as the A50 / A57 motorway, the DN8, and the D46 / D559 departmental roads. This is also the case around the Massif du Mont Faron, the Toulon Intercommunal Hospital Centre and in the heights of the city to the west.

Some ten building permits for the creation of 250 collective dwellings have recently been authorised by the city.
