Pays de Gex (Thoiry - Ferney-Voltaire)
Pays de Gex

A PLUi for the Pays de Gex agglomeration is being drawn up

The Pays de Gex Agglomeration is in the process of drawing up an inter-communal Local Urban Plan (PLUi). The Schéma de Cohérence Territoriale (ScoT) is currently being revised.

The Pays de Gex is a rather isolated French territory, between the Jura Mountains and Lake Geneva, west of the Swiss border. It is composed of 2 areas:

  • a mountainous area, with famous and protected sites such as the Hautes Chaines de Jura
  • a plain, densely populated, which is being urbanised

In the town centre of Thoiry, it is possible to build dwellings of 13 metres in height (i.e. R+3) and the land area is regulated at 60%. In the town centre of Ferney-Voltaire, the maximum authorised height varies between 16 metres (i.e. R+4) and 19 metres (i.e. R+5). The authorised floor area is between 60% and 90%.

The mayors of Thoiry and Ferney-Voltaire are Mrs Muriel BENIER and Mr Daniel RAPHOZ

The town of Thoiry has an urban right of pre-emption on the central part of the commune and on the sector of the Industrial Zone of La Praille.

The commune of Ferney-Voltaire has many reserved parking spaces on its territory, notably around the D1005 departmental road and the Avenue de Vassy and Avenue des Sports. In Thoiry, these reserved sites are located around Rue de la Gare, Rue des Combes and the D89 departmental road.

The municipality of Thoiry has authorised 7 building permits for the creation of individual and collective housing. In Ferney-Voltaire, 12 building permits were authorised, mostly for collective housing.
