Mulhouse's PLU underwent a major revision in 2019

Mulhouse's Local Urban Plan (PLU) dates back more than 10 years. It has undergone a major revision, approved in 2019, to adapt to the new urban projects undertaken by the city.

Mulhouse has been awarded the title of "City of Art and History" and is the birthplace of many French personalities. Its industrial identity is reflected in the presence of the largest automobile museum in the world and the largest European railway museum, which has earned it the nickname "European capital of technical museums". Close to Germany and Switzerland, it is an important municipality in the Grand Est region, and the second largest city in Alsace in terms of population.

In the city centre, the maximum height allowed is 20 to 24 metres and the floor area is not regulated. In the Europe - Bassin Nordfeld district, the height will be limited to 15 metres and the floor area to 30%.

With 42% of its population under the age of 30, Mulhouse is the city with the highest proportion of young people in metropolitan France.

There are reserved sites throughout Mulhouse, particularly near waterways and green spaces in the city.

The municipality has authorised 13 building permits for the construction of 450 collective dwellings and about 20 individual dwellings.
