The commune of La Garde regularly modifies its PLU

The Local Urban Plan (PLU) of La Garde , approved 15 years ago, is regularly reviewed, modified and updated.

A former prosperous agricultural centre, La Garde became a working-class suburb of Toulon in the 20th century. Today it is a university town, with the University of Toulon on its territory. The seaside resort of Sainte-Marguerite, the Magaud Beach and the Domaine de Massacan just a few metres away, as well as the medieval town of the old village of La Garde are part of the town's heritage and attract many tourists every year.

In the town centre of La Garde, the authorised building heights are 10 metres (i.e. R+2).

The Mayor of La Garde is Mr Jean-Claude CHARLOIS

The commune has a right of pre-emption as a sensitive natural area in the department in the sector extending from La Garde station to the Eygoutier river and which houses the Plan Nature Park.

The town also has a large number of sites reserved for public works and for the creation or widening of roads. They are concentrated around the districts of Les Savels and Coste Boyère, the town centre, the La Garde railway station and the Pauline-Hyères railway station, the Valgarde golf course and the Zones d'Aménagement Concertés (ZAC) Les Plantades, Valgora, des 4 chemins, and de la Planquette

11 building permits which foresee the creation of a majority of collective housing have been authorised by the city recently.
