The tourist town of Hyères frequently modifies its PLU

The Local Urban Plan (PLU) of Hyères was cancelled in 2012 by the Administrative Court of Toulon. The new Hyères PLU was approved in 2017. Since then, it has undergone 1 light revision and 2 modifications, the last of which was in 2019.

From 1830 onwards, Hyères became a famous tourist destination for its thermal cures. Today, the town, in addition to its palm cultivation, is a leader in flower and vine cultivation. The town attracts many tourists in the summer thanks to its beaches and tourist spots such as the Golden Islands and the Salins National Park.

In the town centre of Hyères, buildings can reach 12 metres in height (i.e. R+4) and the ground surface area is not regulated.

The Mayor of Hyères is Mr Jean-Pierre GIRAN

The town of Hyères has a right of pre-emption over more than half of its territory. In the town centre, this right of pre-emption is reinforced.

There are many sites reserved by the town, particularly around major roads such as the A570 motorway, the D559, D42, D197 and D12.

Some twenty building permits, most of which are for multi-family housing, have recently been approved by the city.
