Effective from 19 April, the new PLUM of Nantes (Local Urban Planning Scheme) opens up 118 hectares in the Nantes commune to construction.
4 main sectors impacted
1. To the north, near the Paridis shopping centre, the 1,650 open-air parking spaces can be converted into housing, and several plots around Ranzay are also open to housing construction.
2. To the north-east, 18 hectares of agricultural land and vineyards belonging to Nantes Métropole Aménagement and 3 hectares belonging to SNCF Mobilités.
3. 30 hectares in the Erdre districtIn the north-east of the city, the new buildings belonging to the Nantes Metropolis are also suitable for construction.
4. 50 hectares in the south of the Ile de Nantes, equivalent to 16 former industrial sites that will have to be cleaned up before construction, in particular to allow the arrival of the Nantes University Hospital.
The Île de Nantes will undergo a profound transformation over the next few years, notably with the regrouping of the Nantes University Hospital units on the Île by 2026, to make it the largest university hospital in France. The République de l'Île district also aims to encourage a new way of working and living, and to develop the 310,000 m² of building plots into housing (41%), offices and local shops.
77 hectares now available for construction in six other municipalities of the Metropolis
The communes neighbouring Nantes are also concerned by this new PLUM, notably 77 hectares open to construction in 6 communes - corresponding to sites 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 on the map.
